Here, we value your privacy and that's why we've built this guide to help you understand what happens with your data.
You don't have to create an account to view YouChoices, but to use most of the functionality, you do need an account. Users who do not have an account, still must agree to our terms and policies to use our service. Non-account users provide meta data to us such as, but not limited to I.P, location, language, and browser. Users creating an account provide us information such as their username and email. Later, users may provide us more information such as gender or bio.
Most information on YouChoices is public, including your profile information (username and bio) and posts that you send out. Posts contain meta data such as when it was posted and the topics you've selected for it.
You are responsible for what you post on our service, so please think carefully before posting anything. If you delete a post or your account, it may linger on if it has been shared so we do not guarantee that all information will be deleted. We will try to our best of our abilities, but once you post something online other sites may be able to cache that information.
By posting on YouChoices, you are directing us to disclose that information as broadly as possible, including through our APIs.
Location Information: When you sign up, we collect some information that we use to determine your location. Including, I.P, browser, and language. You may also provide us your location information manually in the profile tab of your profile settings.
Links: We keep track of which links you click. Whether it be using our service or through emails we send out, we use this information to provide you a personalized service.
Cookies: A cookie is a small piece of data that is stored on your computer or mobile device. Like many websites, we use cookies and similar technologies to collect additional website usage data and to operate our services. Cookies are not required for many parts of our services such as searching and looking at public profiles. Although most web browsers automatically accept cookies, many browsers’ settings can be set to decline cookies or alert you when a website is attempting to place a cookie on your computer. If you wish to disable cookies, some of our services may not function properly.
Advertising and Ad partners: Advertising revenue helps support our services. We use information described in this privacy policy to help serve you with more relevant ads that way it does not become intrusive with you using our services.
Currently, we do not share your personal data to anyone. However, we do use your data to better our services. Data like topics that you specify you're interested in, users you follow, your gender, location, browser data, and other meta data do get collected to make a more personalized service. By using our service, you agree to having your data collected and used to better our services.
Our services are not directed towards children. If you are under the age of 13, you are considered a child. You must also be old enough to consent to the processing of your personal data. In some countries, you may allow your parent or guardian to do so on your behalf.
